Worship, Challengers and Children's Church, Pie, Upgrades, Grants

Good morning, everyone. Here’s some of what’s going on at Byers Avenue…

This Sunday, we’ll continue our current message series called “Questions from the Garden” with a look at God’s question to Adam, “Who Told You…?” It’s also Father’s Day, so we’ll recognize the men in attendance with a special gift. Join us in-person at 10:45 a.m. or watch online beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Our Challengers Class and Children’s Church are scheduled to resume on Sunday, June 28th. The Challengers meet at 9:30 a.m., and Children’s Church begins partway through our 10:45 a.m. Worship service.

Pie Sales have begun! Check out our church website at or call the church office to place an order. Pie pick-up will occur on July 2nd – 4th.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve done significant upgrades to our church building. These have been funded in a number of ways including last year’s Second Mile Giving Campaign, a withdrawal of funds from our parsonage escrow account, and the monetary gifts of our Byers Avenue family and friends. We’ve completed renovations to our Legacy Room located downstairs next to the current library. We’ve also had the downstairs hallways painted and carpeted. Both of our kitchens have been thoroughly cleaned as well as we approach our annual pie sales.

I’d like to share some other exciting news! We recently received two grants from the Missouri United Methodist Foundation. The first is an online technology grant in the amount of $2,000. This money will allow us to further develop our online ministry presence. We have also been awarded a grant for $2,500 for Children’s Ministries. This money will be used towards renovations to our current library space as we convert it to a Children’s Ministry area. We’ll have more information about that really soon!

That is all for now. Keep loving God and one another, and, as always, stay on mission. It’s great serving as your pastor!
