Good morning, everyone! Here is some of what’s going on at Byers Avenue UMC…

Check out our weekly recorded Worship Services, Midweek Meditations, and other information at www.byersaveumc.org.

This Sunday, July 4th in Worship, we’ll wrap up our current message series on the Beatitudes found in Matthew Chapter 5. This week, we’ll be looking at “The Persecuted”. What did Jesus say about individuals who are harassed and tormented for the faith they profess? Does persecution still occur today? This is important stuff. Worship is at 10:45 a.m. and will include a time of Communion. With this being the first Sunday of the month, we’ll be celebrating Family Worship, so there will not be Children’s Church this week.

Remember that each Sunday morning we offer two Adult Discipleship Studies from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Challengers meet in their classroom downstairs, while our Adult Discipleship Class meets in the Chapel outside the Worship Center. Remember, too, that we have Children’s programming available during this time in our Kids’ Crossing area downstairs. Join us for either of our Adult Discipleship Classes or for our Children’s programming and stick around for Worship!

Our 4th of July Pie Sales are underway! Proceeds from this year’s Pie Sales will support several of our partner ministries and provide children the opportunity to participate in our Summer Day Camp (more info. about Day Camp in a moment). Order our delicious pies and support some really great causes! Visit our church website or call the church office at 417-624-3647.

Children’s Summer Day Camp takes place on Monday, July 19th through Friday, July 24th. Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and is open to children who have completed any grade from Kindergarten through 6th. Spots are filling up fast, so don’t wait to register. You may do so through our church website. This year’s Day Camp is in partnership with First UMC of Joplin and will be hosted at their location at 4th and Byers Avenue.

Day Camp Challenge: Our 4th of July Pie Sales team has graciously agreed to donate $2,000 of their proceeds toward Day Camp so that kids from our churches and community can attend at no cost. I would like to challenge our congregation to match this amount. If you would like to donate above and beyond your normal giving toward this cause, please make checks payable to Byers Avenue UMC and include “Day Camp” on the memo line. Further, if you would like to volunteer to serve any amount of time during Day Camp Week, let me know and I will get you connected.

Kona Ice Celebration: In celebration of what will be a successful Summer Day Camp experience, the Kona Ice truck will make a return to Byers Avenue on Sunday, August 1st following our 10:45 a.m. service. Everyone in attendance that day will be treated to a flavored ice treat.

That’s all for now. Keep loving God and one another! And, as always, stay on mission! Have a blessed day!
