Family Worship, Pie Sale Proceeds, Koinonia, and More!

Good morning, everyone! Thank you for being part of our church’s mission of “…making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” Here is some of what’s going on at Byers Avenue UMC…

Check out our weekly recorded Worship Services, Midweek Meditations, and other information at

Each Sunday morning, we offer two Adult Discipleship Studies from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Challengers meet in their classroom downstairs, while our Adult Discipleship Class meets in the Chapel outside the Worship Center. Remember, too, that we have children’s programming available during this time in our Kids’ Crossing area downstairs. Join us for either of our Adult Discipleship Classes or for our Children’s programming and stick around for Worship!

This Sunday, August 1st in Worship, we’ll continue our message series on “Spiritual Gifts”. Specifically, we’ll be looking at the gifts of motivation - things like serving, encouraging, and giving. Worship is at 10:45 a.m. with Holy Communion. This Sunday is Family Worship, so we will not have Children’s Church. Also, the Kona Ice truck will make a return to Byers this Sunday following our 10:45 a.m. service. Everyone in attendance will be treated to a flavored ice treat.

Our totals are in from our July 4th Pie Sales! We are happy to be able to assist the following ministries and outreach opportunities through our proceeds: First UMC Day Camp partnership - $3,000; Crosslines - $1,000; Mozambique - $1,000; God’s Resort - $1,000; Watered Gardens - $500; Stapleton Elementary - $500; Koinonia outreach event (see below) - $1,700. Thanks so much to our Pie Sales Team for their hard work and generosity!

Thursday Night Koinonia will be offered at Byers this Fall! Beginning Thursday, September 9th and running through Thursday, October 14th, we’ll be hosting a 6-week Bible study called “The Comeback”. The night begins with a catered family meal (free will donations accepted) followed by a video, large group talk, and break-out group discussion. There will be programming for the kids as well. This discipleship and outreach event is open to everyone! More information will be out soon!

Finally, with Covid-19 numbers on the rise again, let’s continue to be vigilant in taking care of ourselves and one another. Please consider being vaccinated and/or wearing a mask and observe other reasonable precautionary measures.

That’s all for now. Keep loving God and one another! And, as always, stay on mission! Have a blessed day!
