Worship, Back to School Blessings, Church Trac, and More!

Good morning, everyone! Thank you for being part of our church’s mission of “…making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” Here is some of what’s going on at Byers Avenue UMC…

First, one housekeeping item… Mindy and I have new email addresses. They are for Mindy in the church office and for me. We’d love to hear from you!

Also, in the area of technology… Our weekly recorded Worship Services, Midweek Meditations, and other information can be found at

Every Sunday morning, we offer two Adult Discipleship Studies from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Challengers meet in their classroom downstairs, while our Adult Discipleship Class meets in the Chapel outside the Worship Center. Remember, too, that we have children’s programming available during this time in our Kids’ Crossing area downstairs. Join us for either of our Adult Discipleship Classes or for our Children’s programming and stick around for Worship!

This Sunday, August 22nd in Worship, we’ll continue our message series on the “Parables of Jesus”. This week, we’ll be looking at the story of “The Good Samaritan”. Worship is at 10:45 a.m. Children’s Church will be offered downstairs during most of our service for those who wish to take part. We are asking children to come to the Worship Center first this week as we plan to do a Back to School Blessing.

We are currently collecting school supplies for Stapleton Elementary. We are asking for donations of 24-count crayons, 12-count colored pencils, large pink erasers, glue sticks, 5-inch blunt or pointed scissors, and #2 yellow pencils. Please consider picking up a few extra supplies this year and bringing them to church. Most importantly, remember to pray over these supplies that will be placed in the hands of our children!

Thursday Night Koinonia will be offered at Byers this Fall! Beginning Thursday, September 9th and running through Thursday, October 14th, we’ll be hosting a 6-week Bible study called “The Comeback”. The night begins with a catered family meal (free will donations accepted) followed by a video, large group talk, and break-out group discussion. There will be programming for the kids as well. This discipleship and outreach event is open to everyone, but we only have room for about seventy-five people this session. Register by responding “Going” to our Facebook Event invitation or by contacting me at

Finally, I’d like to invite you to sign-up for Church Trac at the following link: Birthdays and Anniversaries can now be seen on the Upcoming Events tab on our Church Trac page. After you sign in, go to the menu in the top left corner and click on Upcoming Events.

That’s all for now. Keep loving God and one another! And, as always, stay on mission! Have a blessed day!

Pastor Chuck
