Chili Cook-off and Dessert Auction, Koinonia, Ash Wednesday, and More!

Good morning, everyone! Thank you for being part of our church’s mission of “…making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” Here is some of what’s going on at Byers Avenue UMC…

Every Sunday morning, we offer two Adult Discipleship Studies from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Challengers meet in their classroom downstairs, while our Adult Discipleship Class meets in the Chapel outside the Worship Center. Remember, too, that we have Children’s Programming available during this time in our Kids’ Crossing area downstairs. Join us for either of our Adult Discipleship Classes or for our Children’s programming and stick around for Worship!

This Sunday, February 13th in Worship, we’ll continue our current message series called “A-Z: Our Identity in Christ”. This week, “J” is for “Justified by Faith”, “K” is for “Known by God”, and “L” is for “the Light of the World”. Worship is at 10:45 a.m. Children’s Church will also be offered in the Family Life Center during the entire Worship Service.

Also this Sunday, February 13th is our Annual Chili and Soup Cook-off and Dessert Auction! This year’s event will be held in our Family Life Center from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Enter our contest or simply enjoy the food and fellowship!

Our spring semester of Thursday Night Koinonia begins this Thursday, February 17th and runs for seven consecutive Thursday evenings. Each evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with a free catered meal followed by the video series “H2O” by Kyle Idleman and discussion. Kids’ Programming is also available at Thursday Night Koinonia!

Byers will have a special Ash Wednesday Service on Wednesday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the church season known as Lent. These are the forty days (not including Sundays) that lead up to Easter Sunday. Ash Wednesday offers a time for deep reflection and repentance. All are invited to attend.

That’s all for now. Keep loving God and one another! And, as always, stay on mission! Have a blessed day!

Pastor Chuck
