Worship, Bell Choir, Workday, Holy Week, and More!

3/16/2022

Good morning, everyone! Thank you for being part of our church’s mission of “…making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” Here is some of what’s going on at Byers Avenue UMC…

Every Sunday morning, we offer two Adult Discipleship Studies from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Challengers meet in their classroom downstairs, while our Adult Discipleship Class meets in the Chapel outside the Worship Center. Remember, too, that we have Children’s Programming available during this time in our Kids’ Crossing area downstairs. Join us for either of our Adult Discipleship Classes or for our Children’s programming and stick around for Worship!

This Sunday, March 20th in Worship, we’ll begin a new message series called “Homecoming: The Parable of the Prodigal Son”. We’ll also be blessed by the playing of our Bell Choir. Worship is at 10:45 a.m. Children’s Church will also be offered in the Children’s Church classroom downstairs during the entire Worship Service.

Our spring semester of Thursday Night Koinonia has begun, but it’s not too late to join. We meet each Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. and share a free catered meal followed by the video series “H2O” by Kyle Idleman and discussion. Kids’ Programming is also available at Thursday Night Koinonia!

In preparation for Easter Sunday, we will be hosting a Spring Workday on Saturday, April 2nd from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Primary tasks will include mulching, pulling weeds, trimming, etc. Please bring your own tools to our Spring Workday.

Byers will host a Southwest District Laity Training on Saturday, April 9th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Two classes will be offered during the day – Spiritual Gifts and Discipleship. This training is open to everyone. Please contact me if you would like to participate.

Save the date and plan to attend our Holy Week Worship Services. Maundy Thursday Worship will be on April 14th beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a time to reflect on the suffering of Jesus including his death for our sins. Then, we’ll celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, April 17th. We’ll start the day with a Family Breakfast and Kids’ Easter Egg Hunt at 9:30 a.m. followed by Worship at 10:45 a.m.

I want to share information concerning a few technology updates about to take place in our Worship Center. We will soon be replacing the projection screens on both sides of the stage area in the front of the Worship Center and the projection screen in the back of the Worship Center with large TV screens. The TVs will provide greater clarity and readability in comparison to our current set-up, will provide a cleaner, more streamlined look to our Worship Center aesthetics, and save the church the expense of costly projector bulbs. The TVs will also be compatible with our current technology set-up.

That’s all for now. Keep loving God and one another! And, as always, stay on mission! Have a blessed day!

Pastor Chuck
