Worship, Laity Training, Workday, Holy Week, and More!

Good afternoon, everyone! Thank you for being part of our church’s mission of “…making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” Here is some of what’s going on at Byers Avenue UMC…
This Sunday, April 3rd in Worship, we’ll wrap-up our current message series called “Homecoming: The Parable of the Prodigal Son”. This week, specifically, we’ll be looking at the older son in the story, who is angry with both his rebellious brother and his gracious father. What might this story mean for us? Worship is at 10:45 a.m. and will include Holy Communion.
In preparation for Easter Sunday, we will be hosting a Spring Workday on Saturday, April 2nd from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Primary tasks will include mulching, pulling weeds, trimming, etc. Please bring your own tools to our Spring Workday.
Byers will host a Southwest District Laity Training on Saturday, April 9th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Two classes will be offered during the day – Spiritual Gifts and Discipleship. This training is open to everyone. Please contact me if you would like to participate.
Plan now to attend our Holy Week Worship Services. Maundy Thursday Worship will be on April 14th beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a time to reflect on the suffering of Jesus including his death for our sins. Then, we’ll celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, April 17th. We’ll start the day with a Family Breakfast and Kids’ Easter Egg Hunt at 9:30 a.m. followed by Worship at 10:45 a.m.
