Special Announcement - Thursday Night Faith and Fellowship
8/17/2022
Good morning, friends,
I have both exciting and challenging news for you all to consider. Which news would you like first?
I’m going with the exciting news first! Byers will be offering Thursday Night Faith and Fellowship (formerly known as Koinonia) in three sessions spread over the next several months. Each evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a free catered family meal in our Family Life Center. Following the meal, children will have their own programming in Kids’ Crossing downstairs while the adults go to the Worship Center for a video-based Bible study and discussion. We’ll wrap up the night no later than 8:00 p.m. (Parents, please remember to take your children with you as you leave!)
Here is the schedule of topics we will cover and the dates each session will occur. Each of the studies is available on Right Now Media, which you can subscribe to for free (Just ask me for details.)
· “Everybody, Always” with Bob Goff (Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29; Oct. 6)
· “Whisper” with Mark Batterson (Oct. 27; Nov. 3, 10, 17)
· “Advent” with J.D. Greear (Dec. 1, 8, 15, 22)
Now, for the challenge…
I would like Thursday Night Faith and Fellowship to continue to be an outreach ministry that includes those outside the walls of our church. One of the factors that I believe draws participants to our program is the free catered meal that is offered each evening. I think it’s of great missional importance that these meals be offered at no cost to participants as I don’t want the cost of the meal to deter those who might not be able to pay each week.
So, here’s what I’m asking…
Would you, as someone who is already a member or attendee of Byers, be willing to donate money up front for meals so that someone new to the church can be offered Thursday Night Faith and Fellowship for free?
Each catered meal costs around $300, so, with 13 meetings, I am estimating the total cost for this fall/winter to be around $3,900. I am asking that any donations toward Thursday Night Faith and Fellowship would not be in place of your normal giving, but that this would be giving above and beyond your tithes and offerings. A donation in any amount is appreciated. Of course, whether you choose to give towards this ministry or not, we want you to attend!
I believe that money follows mission, so when we are intentional in reaching out with the gospel, to “…make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world,” giving occurs. Besides, God supplies richly! In fact, even before sending out this information, I’ve had individuals and groups express a desire to give significantly to this cause.
I appreciate your time and prayerful consideration of how you might help in addressing the needs of this ministry. I am really looking forward to this semester of Thursday Night Faith and Fellowship! I hope to see you there!
